A’Design Award Competition

I’m happy to announce that the BIROI Collection is Silver Design Award Winner in 2021 Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award Category of the A’Design Award and Competition.

 

INSPIRATION:

Biroi is inspired by the legendary Phoenix of the sky, who throws itself into the flames and reborn from its own ashes. As an artist, I can see the resemblance between our lives and the flames that ensure the eternal rebirth cycle of Phoenix. Biroi is the art that relates with people who continue to challenge themselves to perpetuate the flame of passion; It’s the passion and courage that makes us keep moving forward while overcoming the difficulties.

 

 

Biroi is a 3D-printed wearable sculpture series shaped from the architectural designer’s perspective. Dynamic lines forming the structure and the Voronoi pattern spread on the surface symbolize the Phoenix that revives from the burning flames and flies into the sky. This pattern changes size to flow over the surface giving a sense of dynamism to the structure. the BIROI Collection embodies the perfect fusion of artistry and functionality.

 

CHALLENGE:

I started the BIROI collection in June 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and finished in September 2019 in Tallinn, Estonia.

As a macro-scale architectural designer, the Biroi collection represents my debut venture into the intricate world of micro-scale jewelry. My foremost challenge was to translate the elegance I am well-versed in, stemming from the grandeur of the macro dimension, into the meticulous realm of 3D printing at micrometric precision. Throughout this journey, I persevered through numerous challenges with unyielding passion, mirroring the very ethos of the Biroi philosophy.

The Silver Design Award:

 

Winning the Silver Design Award in the 2021 Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category is a significant achievement and a source of immense pride for the BIROI collection. As a macro-scale architecture designer, the BIROI collection is the first micro-scale jewelry I have created. My biggest challenge was to move the elegance I am familiar with from the heights of the macro dimension to the micrometric precision of 3D printing. This award signifies my continued pursuit of design excellence and my unwavering determination to push the boundaries of creativity in the world of wearable art. I overcame the endless difficulties with endless passion, just like the Biroi philosophy.

The Design Award is not just an accolade; it’s a testament to MIYU NAKASHIMA’s unwavering commitment to creativity, innovation, and quality. It’s an acknowledgment of the passion and dedication that go into every creation.
