I’m proud to announce that the BIROI Collection has been honored with the Silver A’ Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category for 2021. This prestigious recognition from the A’ Design Award and Competition marks an important milestone in my journey as a designer.

The BIROI Collection is inspired by the legendary phoenix –a mystical bird that throws itself into flames and is reborn from its own ashes. As an artist, I see a parallel between our human experiences and the phoenix’s eternal cycle of rebirth. Biroi is a celebration of resilience, passion, and transformation. It’s a tribute to those who continually challenge themselves, keep their inner fire alive, and move forward with courage through life’s difficulties.

Crafted from the perspective of an architectural designer, Biroi is a series of 3D-printed wearable sculptures. Its dynamic lines and fluid Voronoi patterns symbolize the phoenix rising from the flames and soaring into the sky. The shifting scale of the pattern across the surface creates a sense of movement and energy, blending aesthetics and structure into a unique expression of parametric design.

I began developing the BIROI Collection in Kyiv, Ukraine in June 2017 and completed it in Tallinn, Estonia in September 2019.

Coming from a background in macro-scale architecture, creating micro-scale jewelry was a completely new challenge. My biggest task was to translate the spatial elegance and structural clarity of large-scale design into the intricate, technical world of micrometric 3D printing. This journey was filled with difficulties, but through relentless experimentation and dedication, I was able to transform my architectural vision into wearable art — staying true to the very philosophy of BIROI.

Winning the Silver A’ Design Award is not just an accolade — it’s a powerful affirmation of my artistic vision and commitment to excellence. This recognition motivates me to continue exploring new frontiers in design and to push the boundaries of what wearable sculptures can be.

For me, the award symbolizes more than success; it reflects the essence of BIROI — the ability to rise, rebuild, and renew with purpose and passion.
