When I sat down to design Biroi, I wanted to bring the Phoenix to life—its wings outstretched, rising from the flames. I chose the Voronoi pattern because it reminds me of the organic, crackling structure of fire—both destructive and life-giving. The pattern shifts across the piece, with cells that grow and shrink, telling a story of movement and transformation. Every curve and hollow feels like a nod to resilience. I love how the Voronoi shows up in nature—think soap bubbles or dragonfly wings—and it felt like the perfect way to capture the wild, structured beauty of flames and rebirth.

Bringing Biroi into the world was a mix of art and tech that really pushed me to grow. I went with 3D printing because it lets me build intricate, flowing designs that traditional methods just can’t handle. Using Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper, I dove into parametric design—playing with endless possibilities. Some days, I’d start with a sketch, letting the pencil guide me as I felt out the lines, then turn it into a digital model. Other times, I’d jump straight into the software, tweaking settings until the piece clicked.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing. Making sure Biroi was wearable—beautiful but also comfortable—took a lot of trial and error. I’d print a version, try it on, adjust the weight or balance, and print again. Through all those iterations, I learned that patience is everything. Not every idea works right away, but each step teaches you something. For me, it’s been about finding that sweet spot where art and technology meet—and trusting the process to get there.
